Roseau Area Friends of the Library Fund
The Roseau Area Friends of the Library Fund, a permanently endowed fund, has become part of the Roseau Area Community Fund’s growing family of funds, all benefiting the greater community. The specific purpose of the fund is to provide financial support for programs, projects and activities benefiting the Roseau Area Public Library and the Roseau Area Friends of the Library.
It was originally established in the 1990’s as a result of an incentive grant of $1,000 from the Minnesota Association of Library Friends and $1,000 from matching fundraising efforts.
According to Library Fund Advisory Committee Chair Mary Foley, the library will benefit from having the Roseau Area Community Fund and the Northwest Minnesota Foundation involved in the development of its endowment. She said, “This is a positive step for permanent funding for library services and programs and will help the community as the fund grows.” The Roseau Area Community Fund and the Northwest Minnesota Foundation work together to create more opportunities for local philanthropy or local investing in the future of Roseau through private charitable gifts.
Rod Kjersten joined the Roseau Area Friends of the Library Board and is helping spread the news about growing the fund and meeting goals to help the library. He said, “The fund represents a tremendous opportunity for area residents and friends of the library to maintain, preserve and develop its services. A gift now or a simple will bequest can make the difference in connecting past library traditions with current library needs and for future generations.”
